Reporting Suspected Abuse (Non-Emergency)
To report suspected child abuse or neglect, which includes sexual abuse, contact the Washington State Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) Child Protective Services (CPS):
You do not need to be certain that abuse has occurred to make a report; you only need a "cause to believe."

Medical and Forensic Care
Pullman Regional Hospital provides specialized care for victims of sexual assault:

They offer forensic medical exams and care for adults and pediatric patients, performed by Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (SANE).
Medical forensic exams and evidence collection for victims in Washington State are billed to the Washington Crime Victims Compensation Program, and you are not required to make a police report to receive an exam.
Crisis Support and Information

This service offers supportive listening and immediate assistance to people in emotional crisis.
Child Protective Services (CPS)
CPS, which is part of DCYF, is responsible for receiving and investigating reports of suspected abuse and neglect. Their role is to assess the safety of the child and determine if the situation meets the legal definition of abuse or neglect. They can open cases for voluntary services to help families and connect them with community resources.
Important Note on Reporting
When calling to make a report, try to have the following information available:
The child's full legal name, address, and age/date of birth.
The name and address of the child's parent, guardian, or other persons having custody.
The nature and extent of the suspected abuse or neglect.
Any evidence of previous incidents or any other helpful information.
Anyone who reports in good faith is protected from civil or criminal liability.
